Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the CompanyLens API and website ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

CompanyLens provides a REST API for enriching company data, including firmographics, technology stack detection, social profile discovery, and DNS/WHOIS intelligence. The Service is provided on a subscription or pay-per-use basis.

3. API Use and Rate Limits

  • Your API key is personal and must not be shared or exposed publicly (e.g., in client-side code).
  • You may not exceed the lookup limits for your plan. Excess requests will be rejected with a 429 response.
  • Automated scraping or bulk lookups beyond plan limits are prohibited.
  • You must not use the API to build a competing data enrichment product or resell raw API responses.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Harass, stalk, or harm individuals
  • Build spam lists or unsolicited contact databases targeting individuals
  • Circumvent rate limits or access controls
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure

5. Data and Accuracy

CompanyLens aggregates publicly available data. We make no guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of data returned by the API. You are responsible for verifying data before using it in critical business decisions. Company data is about organizations, not private individuals.

6. Accounts and Billing

  • You must provide accurate account information.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.
  • Unused lookups do not roll over to the next billing period.
  • Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis; contact us within 7 days of a charge.

7. Intellectual Property

CompanyLens and its logos, API design, and documentation are our intellectual property. You may not reproduce or distribute them without written permission. Data returned by the API is sourced from public sources; CompanyLens does not claim ownership of that data.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms, with or without notice. You may cancel your account at any time from your dashboard. Upon termination, your API key will be revoked and you will lose access to the Service.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT DATA WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COMPANYLENS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We'll notify you of material changes via email or site notice. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where CompanyLens is registered. Disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration, except for injunctive relief.
